We respect your privacy and we strongly recommend that you do the same for the people you chat with. In this article, we address some facts that you should be aware of to use Shadow safely.
Shadow first records your conversation and uses the audio file to transcribe it. However, even though Shadow deletes the audio files once it has finished transcribing, unless you have turned on the "Save audio" or "Save Video" option, it may still be considered as 'recording' from a legal point of view.
Therefore, it's best practice to notify the people you chat with and obtain their consent before you let Shadow listen to the conversation.
Depending on where you are, one party's consent might be sufficient to make recording lawful, or you might need to get all parties' consent. Make sure to check the laws and regulations specific to your country.
One-party consent means you can record the conversation:
All-party consent means that you need to obtain the consent of all parties in the conversation.
You should notify the parties of your intention to record the conversation before you allow Shadow to start listening. Then, start Shadow’s listening feature and ask the parties to confirm on the record that they consent to the recording.
We recommend that you notify the parties that you intend to record the conversation in the meeting invitation.
